Crocodiles (Crocodylus palustris)Dominant Young Marsh Crocodiles are extremely territorial and a Brown Fish Owl ( Bubo zeylonensis) finds out the hard way, the real boss of this waterhole.
To hunt fish these Crocodiles swish around their muscular tails to set of fish jumping out of the water. This is what attracts Brown Fish Owl to the waterholes as well. The larger crocodiles tend to dominate and hold sway over the best parts of the waterholes driving competition away. |

Imli - The TigressThe abundance of prey that is attracted by the rich biodiversity of riparian habitats also makes it a hotpot for Tigers to hunt.
This is Imli, the oldest tiger of the Chichghat Valley, an experienced hunter who has raised numerous litter here. No one knows this landscape better than her, moving silently through the grass as she emerges on top of this waterhole to lookout of prey grazing nearby |

Herbivores of the Riparian HabitatThe abundance of water provides a host habitat to The Asian openbill Stork, that feeds mainly on large molluscs, especially Pila species. They separate the shell from the body of the snail using the tip of the beak.
The Spotted Deer, Muntjack or Barking Deer and Wild Boar are permanent fixtures in the Riparian forests, where they find plenty of roots and berries to feed upon, but have to be extremely careful of the constant presence of Carnivores nearby. |
